Listed here is an uncommon early American fountain pen produced by Wahl-Eversharp called the Wahl Pen. This pen has a fetching Art Deco Greek Key chasing. The cap has the price tag on it. This pen would appear to me to be unused. Here is where things get weird. The price tag refers to a different pen, the 766, with a different nib indicated. The cap may have been a swap but it is a perfect match. The dimensions of this Wahl Pen make it an oversized pen. Good Luck!
C
AP and BARREL
The cap is in MINT condition. The trim shows no wear. It screws securely onto the barrel. There is absolutely no oxidation to the ebonite. It still looks shiny.
The barrel is in NEAR MINT condition. The barrel chasing is entirely present and pristine. There is a small scuff on the section probably from storage and brief handling.
GIANT WAHL-EVERSHARP 14K #5 GOLD NIB
This Wahl-Eversharp fountain pen features its original Wahl #5 nib. The nib's imprints are entirely present and well preserved. The nib was probably never used. The nib has a touch of spring. It writes like a fine and is good for precise writing. The tines are perfectly aligned and the nib is oriented properly on the original ebonite feed. The nib is nice and smooth with optimal flow for vellum paper. I used it on 52 gsm Tomoe River paper with Montblanc Around the World in 80 Days Blue ink.
RESTORATION SERVICES
This vintage Wahl-Eversharp #75 Wahl Pen fountain pen has been cleaned and tested for function (filling and writing). It is READY TO WRITE upon filling with standard fountain pen ink.
A brand new large sized latex ink sac
has been properly installed with a dry lubricant to improve performance and longevity.
Renaissance Wax
(yes, only the best) has been sparingly applied to the surface to protect and preserve the ebonite
as well as the nickel-plated surfaces
. Renaissance Wax is used by professional vintage pen restorers and other esteemed institutions such as the British Museum. It is great for protecting metals from oxidation and for protecting surfaces that often come into contact with hands.
This
wax
will not stain or discolor with aging. It is 1
.
acid neutral
; 2.
water r
esistant
; and
3.
alcohol resistant. The Renaissance Wax will preserve the color of the ebonuite and protect from further color loss.
The Wahl #5 gold nib has been
adjusted for smoothness and flow
.
Beyond making sure that the pens I restore write, I like to make sure they
write well. Using a loupe, premium micro-abrasives, and when necessary, specially made nib repair tools each nib is carefully adjusted to provide an enjoyable writing experience based on the particular characteristics of the nib.
The Wahl Pen has been fully disassembled and cleaned.
