    Description

    Here's WAHL EVERSHARP red hard rubber utility and advertising pencil from about 1925. This 5-1/2"  pencil has a oversized barrel diameter, nickel plated trim and a full external eraser at the top.  It was sold with an 3 line advertising imprint on the barrel for  EDGAR QUALITIY CLAYS, FLORIDA - GEORGIA - NEW JERSEY, METUCHEN N.J.   It is also marked on the metal top WAHL- EVERSHARP, MADE IN USA. Nickel plated trim looks pretty good overall, but under magnification, some pitting and general wear can be noted. As can be seen in the photos, the eraser cap can be pulled off for access to the lead magazine. Pencil operates perfectly using .046" lead. I've had this pencil a long time and I may have replaced the eraser.. it's a little hard, but usable. Lead is advanced by twisting the eraser cap. Pencils of same and similar design appear in the 1928 Wahl catalog, but are already converted to enameled and bakelite barrels, so this hard rubber pencil must be a few years earlier. Great condition.
