    Description

For auction is a vintage Sears and Roebuck saw gauge/jointer.  Dunlap saw set and handmade spider included. Gauge is probably pre-WWI to 1920s vintage. Fully working. No rust. Sears contracted out for many of its catalog sold tools, including its saw gauges.  Raised rectangle on back says this one was made by E. C. Stearns of Syracuse, NY. The 1903 Potter patent it was based on was a way for Stearns to get around the more complicated Atkins Excelsior design and patent.  Stearns carried the gauge in its own catalog but made unmarked ones for Sears and Monkey Ward. Sears also carried Dunlap sets and other tools before it bought the Craftsman name in late 1920s. Because this gauge is so similar to the Atkins, I am including a copy of the Atkins sharpening guide as the Sears guide that would have come with the tool. Throwing cigar box as well. Great addition to toolbox or collection or gift. USA  only please. Happy to answer any questions.  Check out my other sales as I combine shipping costs. If you don't want cigar box, I will ship it flat rate for .00. Thanks for looking.
