Writing sample confirms nib writes properly. Nib is 14kt gold and is a rigid Fine (0.45 mm). Flushed nib unit & sac after writing sample... some ink may still remain. and Gold Capped
    Eversharp
Skyline Fountain Pen with FINE Nib
    Circa 1940's
    Maroon
body with ringed gold cap, gold-filled trim, and 14kt gold nib.  Lever-filled.  Made in U.S.A.
Iconic pen.  Great for everyday writing, at the office or home.
    Ready to be used!
Eversharp was one of the "Big Four" pen manufacturer's during the Golden Age of fountain pens (others were Parker, Sheaffer, and Waterman).  Renowned for their FLEXIBLE nibs.
Restoration - Installed New Sac and Cleaned/Polished/Waxed
Restoration included soaking, disassembling, ultrasonically cleaning, scrubbing, swabbing, flushing, buffing, & polishing.  Dismantled section/nib/feed and thoroughly cleaned, soaked, ultrasonically cleaned, and polished with jeweler's cloth.  Straightened and aligned tines of nib. Tested nib for smoothness (See photo of writing sample.), then flushed.  Removed old ink sac and replaced with new.  Confirmed lever moves.  Confirmed lever depressed the new sac and draws water.  Brushed and swabbed to clean the inner diameters of cap and barrel.  Lightly buffed the plastic of cap and barrel, and used jeweler's cloth to polish gold-filled components.
    Materials and Conditions
    -
    Body including Cap -
    ·
    Standard-sized
    ·
Maroon plastic barrel and cap helmet while remaining cap is gold-filled with horizontal decorative rings.
    ·
Gold-filled clip and lever.  Clip is imprinted with "EVERSHARP" plus the double-check "W" logo.  Imprinted on the band of the clip "EVERSHARP SKYLINE PAT. MADE IN U.S.A."
    ·
    Gold-filled Trim:
    ·
Besides micro-scratches, gold cap and trim have the following:
    ·
Typical wear on the lever where the cap rubbed on it when pen was posted
    ·
Very end of clip has some brassing.  (See close photos.)
    ·
    Cap:
    ·
Screw-on cap - threads nicely with barrel.  Last 1/4-turn the top of section slightly rubs on inner cap before seating 100%.
    ·
Imprinted on the cap reads "1/10 14 K Y.G.F." which means 1/10 14 kt yellow gold filled.
Gold Filled is a thin sheet of karat gold in this case 14K which is fused by rolling it on to a thicker sheet made out of a different, less expensive base metal.
The first numbers (1/10) indicate the ratio between the mass of the Karat Gold sheet to the mass of the entire piece (karat + base metal). This is serious amount of gold, not just plating.
    ·
    C
lip holds tightly to the rim of a po
cket, while very easily slipping over the rim when put into pocket.
    ·
    Plastic body:
    ·
Several "slightly more than micro" scratches where the cap rubs on the barrel near the lever when posted.
    ·
A couple small dings and a couple small scratches to the right of the top of the lever slot, about 1/4-inch above the slot.  There are a couple other much smaller and shallower subtle dings elsewhere on helmet and barrel.  Where the cap rubs on the barrel when the pen is capped, there are subtle rub marks.
    ·
No chips, cracks, significant scratches, engravings, or discolorations.
    Nib -
14 kt gold nib engraved "EVERSHARP    14K    MADE IN USA"
    Breather hole is
    oblong
    -diamond-shaped
The face of the nib has a high luster.
Tines are properly aligned and touching (See close up photos).  There is a ding/rough spot on the edge of the nib to the left of the slit, near the tips.
Feed has breather tube attached to it -- which fills the sac more efficiently (fuller), but takes more flushing to fully flush out.
Writing sample was done by dipping ink rather than contaminate the new sac.
    Sac
    New rubber sac
Sac was shellacked in place then powdered with pure talc to prevent if from sticking to the barrel walls.
Filling system was tested with water and ink
Ink flushed from nib using lever/pressure bar -- may have some of the Colorverse Redshift ink remaining
