This is a used Spectra-Physics #5870 Z-Lok unit
I am not 100% sure what it is used for or how it works.  What I can tell you it came from a closing down factories extra parts cabinet and was marked as "good".  They only kept things that were good and everything I have sold from these cabinets has checked out to be fine by all my ebay customers.  It is sold as-is with no returns.  If you are not familiar with this product, think before purchasing it, because I can't help you with it at all.
It appears to be a pretty rare device because all of them that I had and others that I have seen have very low serial numbers.   I am going to assume they made a few hundred to a few thousand of them and they cost an arm and a leg.  I can't find the manual online even.  You probably can contact the maker and ask for info. but I did not pursue it.
I think it is used to control a laser but again I am not sure.  It was in a drawer with laser parts.
This unit does not come with any type of power cord unless I locate it.  I used some jumper cables to power it up just to confirm it was not dead.  Lights come on and buttons work but I have no idea if it functions properly or not.  As I said above, electronic parts are sold as-is with no warranty or returns.
This unit has some frequency offset controls, an etalon lock button, an auto center button, and some other stuff on the back.  Check out the high quality pictures for more info.
This one for sale is serial number 346.  It was made in the USA.
