    Description

    Henry Disston & Sons
    D-23
    5-1/2 Point Progessive Rip
    26 inch Plate size
    1930-40s
The D-23 is a late model offering that packs a lot of punch for it's age, and a favorite of many carpenters. When these saws were in production Disston had reduced the models and consolidated what worked the best over the years.  By this point in production the steel process was a well oiled machine and saw of the late 20-50 all hold a wonderfully edger. The handles although not a stylish are the most durable they made. The screws also improved hold tight to the plate.
The saw for sale has some light cosmetic apologies but nothing that effects use. The plate is smooth and straight with a nice readable etch. Some light stains and marks viewable in the pictures. The saw plate was polished but no sanding and its in great shape even for a late model. The cover topped handle is stained beech wood. Both horns are full and tight to the plate. With age you will find a few small dings, and marks
. The saw is a factory 5-1/2 point progressive rip, a popular size for rip work. The saw is freshly sharpen, tested and ready to go.
Have a look at the photos and details below. Let me know if you have any questions.
Now on instagram! @ secondchancesawworks have a look of what's on the bench.
    ABOUT THE SAW
    HANDLE:
A very nice factory fresh handle with a few
marks and dings see pictures. Over all it's in good vintage condition with no repairs made or needed. Both horns are fill. The hardware is in good working order and tight to the plate.
    PLATE:
Straight and smooth with a nice factory shine. The plate does have a few stains, more so on the back. The factory double etch is very nice and fully readable.
I take great care in my sharpening process and don't simply sharpen and list. After the saw is sharpened I test cut then tune as needed for best use. The 5-1/2 point progressive pitch is a perfect user for all types of woods
. Many feel the progressive pitch aids in smother started and better tracking. By far one of the most popular rip sizes. The saw is freshly sharpened with just a touch of slope and fleam. The results cut and track perfectly on tricky and hard woods.
Please excuse any dust in the pictures the saw will be wiped down before it's mailed. After looking over pics let me know if you have any questions.
    WHY BUY FROM ME
The goal with every saw I offer is to bring back the beauty in direct proportion to its overall condition
.Each one is checked before it’s sharpened and tested then tuned as needed. It's true I do this for profit but I've got a passion for saws that anyone who's talked with me know.  I stand behind what I sell! It’s as simple as that. If you're not happy contact me and I will refund or work it out. I don’t tend to sell at auction rather I sell a top quality saw at a fare price. It’s what I demand, and what you should as well. My description don't spend time saying I'm the BEST or have a god like ability with a file, I don't trash other seller rather I try and to stick to the topic at hand— some history, details, and a few jokes. I'm very good at what I do because I've learned from others and practice a lot. I have love for what I do and I think if you take the time to read my blog or follow me on social media it come through. That passion I feel tips the scales in my favor and I hope gets you to try one of my saws.  Rest assured if it doesn't go to your liking with mine or another sellers saw I'm here to make it good.
I offer restoration and sharpening services. Please contact me or look me up on the web.
If you like to read more about my process and all things saws please read my blog positiverake or find me on Facebook
    NOT SO FINE PRINT
Please carefully review the pictures, I have done my best to describe things as I see them. ALWAYS feel free to email with any questions and I will do my best to answer them.  I make every effort to ship next day after payment M-F.
I now use the ebay calculator that allows local customers a better rate then a single flat rate coast to coast.
I'm happy to combined shipping but please contact me BEFORE payment so I can combine
I accept returns up to 14 days
. I do not charge extra for shipping but do charge .50 to cover the cost of the box. These older saws can damage easily and I find it's better to use a custom box rather then recycle ones.
Please take a second to look at this and other saws I offer. I put a good deal of effort into each saw and I want you, the buyer to be happy. E-mail with any issues and I will do my best to resolve them in a peaceful way.

Thanks for look and I invite you to read my feedback, It’s a gift and you should bid with confidence based on it.
