    Description

This 26 inch hand saw is stamped GW PROCTOR REFINED SPRING STEEL
I'm going to put out my opinion, which is most often all or partly wrong but I've handled hundreds of these old saws so
    hoping
I've picked up on something over the years. The cut of the handle just screams 1840's to me. I'm sure there were a few making the old school English style saws even later but most often this style is found on 1840's saws, the medallion along with being on the wrong side is most likely of English origin, a known trait of 1840's New
    York
    saw.
The handle has been refinished but at least some of the patina was left in place so it isn't blazing fresh wood. If you are trying to collect all the documented makers of early American hand saws then grab this one while you have a chance.
