    Description

SAW SHARPENING VISE, STANLEY SAW SET & EXTRAS
Here is a good saw vise and tools for the woodworker who wants to sharpen their own saws. It features a good portable saw vise that clamps to a workbench. A good saw vise is a must for the unplugged woodworker and this is one is in good user condition. The vise when clamped to a workbench is very sturdy for sharpening and setting saws. It can be set up at different angles to assist with sharpening with sloped gullets.
It has a 9-1/2” length saw clamp that closes tight. I put blue painters tape on the inside of my jaws so I don’t mar my newly cleaned blade while sharpening. This vise locks in tight and it has a large C- clamp to secure it with a large thumbscrew to assist hand tightening. It has been taken apart and inspected – clean with no problems.
With it comes a Stanley No. 42 saw set in fine working condition that can be used with different size saws crosscut or rip.
I tested it out and it works fine with a good spring and crisp hammer and anvil. Also included is a file jointer. Using this tool to even out the height of all the teeth is the first and very important step.
I included a set of 3 different sharpening fixtures I made to assist you with maintaining a 15 degree rake and 20 degree fleam on crosscuts. For rip saws the small wood fixture is set at 5 degrees for rake. The fixtures will come with a file inserted in them for your use & understanding. They are very handy little blocks of wood that will assist your sharpening. I included a photo of this type in use from the site of Ron Hock – thus check out Hock tools for his sharpening description using these guides.
I also included some used saw files with some life in them. And a couple of different file handles. I heard you can soak the files in vinegar overnight and get some more life in the sharpening edges.
Practice on some junker saws with these and get the good expensive files for your good saws when you have the technique down.
I will have the vise disassembled and ship all this in a large flat rate box.
I have recently been selling many tools from my collection in fine condition to woodworkers who have emailed me with compliments on the quality of the tools and their ready to use condition.
