RARE Antique Henry Disston BROWN'S No.3 RIP Saw 22 3/4"-5 TPI* EARLY*. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. I have a rare Henry Disston Browns No.3 rip saw for sale. I found this saw in a very old tool chest. The prior owner is in his 80's and he told me it was his grandfathers who was born in the 1860's! This was one of the many tools in a toolbox that he used here after coming to the US at the turn of the century. This is a rare saw, there is very limited information about this line. In my research I have found this line listed in the Distons catalog for 1918, the pic provided is what I am basing this on, I am assuming that it from this time period, however the top of the blade does not have the notch toward the tip. Also it has the Warranted Superior Eagle Medallion, a medallion created by Disston for second line saws that the made for other makers. The Medallion looks from the turn of the century period. The saw handle has wear, with tiny crack next to the medallion, also there is a small amount of damage on one of the horns, also there is an initial of the prior owner. The handle holds well without movement.The teeth have 3 that are damaged and need to be reshaped. The saw blade is in very good condition and it has been cleaned, however this could be improved. The saw measures 22 3/4" it has a nice weight and feels stiff in the hand, and the makers mark is clear and readable, hopefully this will improve after more cleaning. This is a nice old saw that needs to be in a collection. This saw is sold as is, also my dating is an opinion not fact as there is no date stamp on the saw! This is a really nice piece.
