This 8inch diameter, 4inch height, 0.5inch thick sundial is using the ancient art of sand casting. To cast the dial, a sundial pattern impression is made of high quality sand designed specifically for brass casting. The molten brass is then poured into a hole in the sand which fills the mold. After cooling, the sand surrounding the sundial is removed and the finishing process begins.
