    late 19th Century Chinese Cold Painted Bronze Censer Sculpture of an Earth Spirit
    late 19th/early 20th century, of Asia Pacific region, probably Chinese cold painted bronze sculpture of the Earth Spirit cast in 18th century style, a fierce mythical creature with muscular body & stiff pose, the leonine head covered in fur hair & modelled with projecting fangs with pair of backward rising horns, with the continuous line of spikes protruding from the spine above curled tails. The sculpture has detachable head to use as a censer. The figure hand painted with earthly rusty red burgundy, grey, brown & black colors. Covered in white paint pigments & scattered black spots. Overall very good condition, some paint loss, rubbings, scattered scratches, bottom scratches, the base possibly has been drilled, closed with bronze flat knob.
