They're nearly unnoticeable from any appreciable distance & hardly constitute significant damage to this otherwise wonderful late 19th-early 20th c Limoges (France) antique sgnd hnd pntd, scalloped edge, 9 1/4" in diameter, fancy Victorian prcln cer dinner plate. The portrayed fauna is that of a shot & prone gamebird, nestled amongst dry, autumnal vegetation after the hunt. Of course, hunting, especially in 19th & early 20th cEurope & France, wasn't frowned upon or portrayed negatively as it unfortunately appears to be today, in that these gamebirds were seen as valued food & prized catches for the dinner table & family soup pot. The figuration of the fauna is masterfully executed & is the work of a clearly experienced & talented artist for Limoges. Beautiful.
