Whew...where do we begin? So much here for the avid Disston collector, the Disston fan, the Disston user... We've come across Disston saws frequently in our collector's/pickers/antique/vintage eBay store. But never, Never, NEVER anything like this. When we opened this H. K. Porter Salesman's Case, we hoped we would find some kind of treasure but never thought it would be this rich. Most of everything shown in the photos is NOS (New Old Stock). 90% of the circular saw blades are NOS. Some were demoed/used by the sales person while a few others were likely returns from customers, but again the mast majority are NEW. Almost all of the metal and wood files are NOS (90% or better). Full Disclosure: We are assuming that the files listed in each box are accurate but since they aren't sealed do not guarantee it. To be safe we removed the contents for the purpose of the photo shoot. Also: Curiously, the tape measures are tape-less. Guessing that this salesman likely promoted replacement tapes and brought the empties with him for demo purposes. The Sales Case itself is in excellent condition. No issues with the hinges, hasps or handle, aside from a slight tear in the leather (see photos). Looks like a nice coffee mug stain and spill on the top of the case, but don't worry, we won't charge extra for that. Included in the case are two DISSTON OEM demo orange/red blankets. These are so very rare. Used by the salesman in his sales calls to display his wares. We've never saw any before in this good condition...Never. The larger one comes in at 30" x 6'. The smaller at 14" x 36". The stitching on the sides of the blade-flaps are as strong as the day they were made. There are only a very few small blade punctures (see pics). Would almost be nicer if there were more, LOL. But yeah, it's that well preserved. The color is shockingly vibrant on each. There are blades here from three different generations. There are even a few dozen hardware packets of blades, and screws. These are sealed so we don't know exactly what's inside all of them. We know some contain jig-bits. Some contain conversion adapter kits for early DISSTON power tools...probably nothing of substantial value, just support hardware for the distributorships that this salesman serviced. We think the crown jewels of this collection are the hand saws. They are all NOS. Pretty rare to find a vintage Disston in New condition. Even rarer to find one in it's pristine canvas holster...two of the saws have them...including a D95 with it's original blade-guard still attached (see pics). We'll stop gloating about this item for now...maybe. Everything shown in the photos is included. Every single container has product in them. The Rasps/Files we've taken out of their boxes to show contents for the photo shoot but for obvious reasons we did not do the same with all of the circular blades.
For the ultimate fan of DISSTON it might be some time before something like this becomes available to own again...all in one place...in this condition...at a single purchase point and price. Think twice before moving on. And if you do move on after thinking twice...try a third time.
