16 character 'Da Ming Xuande' mark. The Ming Xuande marksare the most common among bronze censers as this. The multi character mark is abit more rare but exists.
'Da Ming Xuandewunian Jiandu Gongbu guanchen Wu Bangzuo zao (Made by Wu Bangzuo, supervisor ofthe Ministry of Works, in the 5th year of Xuande of the Great Ming). Thesemarks were very popular during the Qing dynasty to indicate the item was of asimilar high quality as during the reign of the Ming Emperor Xuande but totallyapocryphal
'Da Ming Xuande yuannian Wuyingdian yong (Made for use inthe Wuying Hall during the first year of the Xuande period of the MingDynasty)'
DESCRIPTION: This beautiful Chinese Xuande tripodbronze/brass censer has a compressed bombe form with two loop handles. It isclean simple and elegant. And it is unusual in that it is inscribed with theextended version of the Xuande reign mark. I'm guessing that this is probably alate Qing or early Republican piece. This is just only a guess. This incenseburner has beautiful patina and would easily lend its beauty and sophisticationinto any home.
CONDITION: This censer is in very good condition with nodings, dents, or scratches. However there was some florist foam glued to theinside (see pictures).
This incense burner measures approximately 4 inches high and6”x6.5” wide. Weight approximately 1 pound, 14 ounces. It is a nice solid piece.
