ATKINS RAKER GUAGE - JOINTER
used for sharpening two-man crosscut saws. It is marked E. C. Atkins & Co. Indpls, Ind . (Inv no 0315 0681) The raker teeth remove shavings that the cutter teeth have severed from the wood. For a saw to work best the raker teeth must be adjusted to type of wood and other factors. The depth of the rakers below the cutter teeth was determined by using a tool called a raker gage (gauge) or raker depth gage (gauge) (Warren Miller, Crosscut Saw Manual). This example has a dark patina and is in good used condition and all screws work, etc. About 5 1/4 x 2 ½ in size. Starting price is .95.Shipping weight is 13 ounces.
