Antique E C ATKINS & Co. Rip Saw in Bell System Case 11-46 MFG R.H BUHKE CO*RARE. Condition is "Used". I have a very nice E C Akins Rip Saw for sale. The saw come in a Bell System Case 11-46 MFG R.H BUHKE CO. The saw is in good condition for its age and has a clear readable makers stamp ( its easier to read than in the pic). The saw has all of its teeth at 5 teeth per inch. The blade is clean and could be improved with some more cleaning if you need it to sparkle! The horns have some wear but are still there and hold your hand well. The bottom horn has some wear and the top horn has a crack that is stable and doesn't go through. This is a very nice saw, it is solid, it feels old and very well made. The case has usual wear, the strap still works well but is frayed. The case has been lightly cleaned but will improve with more cleaning. I am not sure of the case material, it feels like some kind of hardened older plastic/ baker-light material for machinery.. its very stiff and well made, and it holds the saw correctly. I am very tempted to keep this saw, its a good one. I like Akins saws, they have a nice stiff older feel to them, and this one has a handle that holds the saw really well.. it feels really nice in the hand and balanced. The saw has good depth, and I dont know if it has ever been re toothed? This is a good one. Thank you for looking.
