Description
You are looking at a 26" crosscut hand saw made in the USA by Henry Disston & Sons of Philadelphia, Pa. This saw is not marked on the face of the blade as the etch is completely worn away. The blade on this piece is "London Spring Steel" and sights nice and straight. It features a straight back that follows to a slightly reduced tip, and 10 points per inch with all the teeth intact and in good condition. The steel is clean and has a nice patina to it, but also has a few dark spots from previous oxidation. The handle on this saw is apple, that has a chip-carved face. It does show a crack on the bottom nut on the rear side, where the bottom of the round is chipped off. Also, the top horn has ben broken off and re-applied. It is glued and at one time had screws or nails in in it. It seems tight and has no movement, and the handle is tight to the blade. The handle is held tight to the blade with four brass saw nuts, one of which holds the "H. Disston & Sons - PHILADA" medallion.
